Casa de Mañana
Not more bad surf photography!
Well, yes. Sorry.
I hope to soon offer some interesting road-trip annie-dotes and well-composed photos from the back of beyond, southern Utah. But that's next week. Today was all about milking the last of the south swell.
Casa de Mañana is a fickle spot, like a lot of the La Jolla reefs are, but it's a square brute of a wave when the conditions are right. It's a bodyboarding spot mostly, a mutant. Shallow boils, where the reef lurks near the surface, fill your peripheral vision when you take off -- and the takeoffs are steep. A seal rookery is not more than 100 yards away, and it's just a spooky spot. Wouldn't John Eldredge be proud.
Anyway, today was pretty good and uncrowded.
Oh, the REI Joshua Tree photos are up now too.
