11th Annual Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival
The popularity of Pizza Port's Strong Ale Festival continues to grow, as we find out today when we have to wait 90 minutes in line. Perhaps it's because the event was rained on yesterday, but it's packed. Under a large tent is a selection of 60 different rare and unusual beers. It's a fun time once we get in, though, and not nearly as out of control as last year.
I start with 4 oz. of Speedway Stout from AleSmith Brewing Co. It's quite good, much better than our next selection, a Belgian Tripel From Hollister Brewing Co. The best beer of the evening, though, was the "Golden Monkey Belgian-style Golden Strong." The names are half the fun: Inebriator Stout, Miscreant Ale, White Knuckle Double IPA, and the aptly named Headwrecker American Strong Ale.
Michael and Mike head up for their first taste.
Doesn't look like Mike is enjoying that Czar Imperial Stout much.
Doofus and Gasman, near the end of a long night, captured by one of the friendly bartenders.
