Smashing Pumpkins

It was such a bad show that Rolling Stone wrote an article about it. But it was fun to see the Pumpkins, in the Bronx, on the spur of the moment, and then watch the unexpected fireworks as the tough New York crowd turned on Billy and his seventeen minute Pink Floyd murk. ("No I will not set the controls for the heart of the sun!") But the first quarter of the show, some of the acoustic set -- even the kazoo-laced encore -- were swell.

And at least he didn't resort to too much name calling -- until the subsequent night. Yeah, on that night it got fairly crude and lame at the end.

But it was fairly uncomfortable on the night before as well -- weird enough that I was glad that I was just a random interloper and not some rabid fan that had been looking forward to the night.

But there were some nice moments as well:

This is where it got pretty funny and surreal--but the running commentary (rant) is priceless (as are the increasing boos from the crowd):

Ah, the pumpkins. Gotta love 'em. Right?

Right?

Hello?
